Updates
Registration is expected to open on 13 December 2026. We are currently calculating with an entry fee of €220 per person (duo: €430). The route is not fixed yet. Sign up and you will hear first as soon as there is something concrete.

Who is behind it
Shores & Switchbacks grew out of two things: I like this kind of event, and I come from a region that is made for it. Lake Constance, the Bregenzerwald and the Nagelfluh range lie so close together that lakeshore, forest and mountains can come together in a single loop.
What interests me about ultras is less the hero story and more the mix of self-reliance, a bit of nonsense, good people and long days on the bike. I want to bring that together in a format that fits the region.
Everyone who starts should get a good ultra: a route that challenges and rewards, and a Base Camp by the water that is a good place to arrive.
The region
The route is not finished yet. These three landscapes are fixed. The rest will keep moving until the loop really works.

3 to 6 June 2027
Arrive, briefing, final information and a first hello at Base Camp. Food for carb loading is included. A voluntary social ride is planned as well.
Tracker on, start riding.
The part we all came for.
Cut-off is Sunday noon. Afterwards there is a shared closing dinner. Eat, drink, sit, talk and have fun. If you arrive later, you are of course just as welcome.

Our Base Camp will be at Ruderclub Lindau on the Kleiner See. Right by the water, quiet and with exactly the Lake Constance atmosphere the weekend should have. Not an anonymous event compound, but somewhere you actually want to stay for a while.
This is where Thursday's Riders Briefing, Friday morning's start, the finish and Sunday's shared event close will take place. Family and friends are welcome. Beyond the shared meals on Thursday and Sunday, we will not offer catering on site, but there are plenty of leisure options right nearby.
Camping: If logistics allow, we plan to offer a limited number of simple camping pitches close to Base Camp. Capacity will be limited and the pitches are only confirmed once the organisational details are final. Reservation details will follow with registration.
Participation
At least 50% of the start places are intended to be reserved for FLINTA*. Unused places can later be released transparently.
Shores & Switchbacks is not meant to become a mass event. Participant numbers will stay deliberately limited.
Live tracking and a public leaderboard are part of it. For everyone who would rather watch dots on maps than sleep.
Everything that really matters on the route lives there rather than on the homepage.
